Free Resilience Film Screening 7 October 2019 – Central Library, Portsmouth 09.30 – 12.30

The PSCP, PSAB and CIS’ters would like to invite you to come along to the Menuhin Theatre, Central Library, Portsmouth on Monday 7 October 2019 09.30 – 12.30 to see a free screening of the film ‘Resilience – The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope’.

Research into Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) demonstrates the direct correlation between childhood trauma and physical/social outcomes later in life. We therefore need to focus on our early intervention services. Ten ACE’s are identified in the international research:

1. Physical abuse

2. Sexual abuse

3. Emotional abuse

4. Neglect

5. Mental illness of a household member

6. Problematic drinking by a household member

7. Drug misuse by a household member

8. Divorce or separation of a parent

9. Domestic violence towards a parent

10. Imprisonment of a household member

There will be a Q&A panel after the film, with representatives from local statutory and voluntary organisations.  This event is for professionals in a practitioner’s role working with children, young people and adults and will be of particular importance to service commissioners and providers within Local Government, Education and Health.
