Advice Portsmouth provides free, independent, impartial and confidential advice to people living in the PO1-PO6 areas of Portsmouth. Our purpose is to give the right advice and appropriate support to help clients solve their problems. Qualified professionals, support staff and dedicated volunteers provide general and specialist advice on:
Professionals/Parents/Carers
Non Violent Resistance (NVR)
This is for parent/ carers with children who show violent, aggressive, controlling or self destructive behaviour. A ten week course providing NVR strategies to help build positive relationships. This course is followed up with access to monthly drop in sessions after the group

ALL requests for NVR / RR support must be made with an updated FSP / EHA / SAF and a cover email to be sent to ParentingService@portsmouthcc.gov.uk

Parenting Surgeries
Parents who do not have a Lead Professional can access a parenting surgery. These are one off 30-minute sessions for those that need support around a specific issue or general behavioural management support

A team of therapists and researchers specialising in the treatment of common mental health difficulties. If you are struggling with low mood or anxiety, or with a physical condition such as chronic pain or fatigue, Talking Change provides talking therapies to help you cope and feel better

A focused program of sessions designed to support school-aged children (5-16). Includes: New Fearless sessions with anxiety focus, Managing Fighting and Aggression, Reducing Family Conflict, Coping with Teen Emotions and Getting your Children to Cooperate
