Child J Serious Case Review September 2021

The PSCP is publishing its report into the Local Child Safeguarding Practice Review (LCSPR) of Child J.

This case was considered by the Portsmouth Safeguarding Children Partnership (PSCP) at its Learning from Cases Committee in October 2019. The PSCP commissioned an independent reviewer to examine issues concerning the welfare of Child J and the lessons to be learnt to improve experiences for children in similar circumstances in the future, including the degree to which decisions were child focused and the effectiveness of working arrangements across agencies and services. Key themes within this report include criminal exploitation, the impact of adverse childhood experiences and Children in Care who are placed over 20 miles out of area.

The full findings of the LCSPR are set out in the overview report.  You can also read a 7 Point case briefing for a concise version of case details and key learning.

The PSCP has also published a response document which outlines the actions that we have taken as a result of this report. All actions will be monitored on a quarterly basis by our Monitoring, Evaluation and Scrutiny Committee.
